  • 79-80 Rx7 Racing Beat Power Pulse Muffler (16430)

    Racing Beat has been manufacturing replacement muffler canisters for rotary powered vehicles for over 40 years. Ordinary replacement mufflers don't stand a chance against the extreme temperatures and pounding exhaust gas pulsation generated by the rotary engine. Many of these replacement mufflers will quickly burn up the packing material and self-destruct under these harsh conditions. Many years ago we discovered an exhaust system supplier deep in the heart of the Italian countryside that was willing to produce our RX-7 mufflers for us. That was over 30 years ago and we've never looked back! In fact, we can't ever recall having a complaint with one of these mufflers, they just flat out work. Solid, strong and quiet, they hold up extremely well against the abuse of the harsh rotary exhaust.

    Our Power Pulse Main RX-7 Mufflers interchange exactly with the stock RX-7 muffler on the 1979-80 chassis years. The main body of the muffler measures 8 inches in diameter and 18 inches in length. The heavy-duty construction, both internally and externally, ensures a long life. In a typical application, this muffler adds up to 5 HP over the Mazda factory muffler and is as quiet as a stock muffler with an improved note - deep and throaty, with no annoying metallic character. Emissions legal, this muffler bolts to the outlet of the connecting pipe section. Gaskets are not included, but are available separately if needed.

    In response to numerous requests from customers demanding a very low restriction“street capable” muffler, Racing Beat now offers the Universal Power Pulse PR-Extreme RX-7 Muffler with a 2.75" OD internal perforated core design to meet the performance demands of high-horsepower ported rotary engines. The Power Pulse PR-Extreme RX-7 Muffler is compatible with all 1979-85 RX-7 muffler rear mounting positions and retains the factory stock appearance; this PR-Extreme RX-7 Muffler includes an inlet pipe measuring, nominally, 6 inches in length x 2.75" OD.

    The Racing Beat Universal Power Pulse PR-Extreme RX-7 Muffler is manufactured by the same exhaust components manufacturer that has produced our "tried and proven" First Generation RX-7 Power Pulse mufflers (1979-80, 1981-82, and 1984-85) since the mid-1980s. Utilizing a heavy-walled canister shell and extremely durable heat and noise insulating materials, the Racing Beat Power Pulse PR-Extreme RX-7 Muffler is engineered for the high exhaust gas temperatures found in rotary engine applications.

    The main body of the muffler canister measures 8 inches in diameter and 18 inches in length. The dual outlet tips are completely chrome-plated with straight-cut outlet.

    Now may be the time to consider replacing the old rubber muffler hangers on your RX-7. New replacement hangers will ensure correct alignment of the RX-7 muffler canister and tip position in the bumper opening.

  • 86-88 Rx7 N/A Racing Beat Down Pipe/Presilencer Kit (16206)

    Down Pipe with Presilencer - 1986-88 RX-7 Coupe Non-Turbo (w/Manual Transmission) - The 1986-91 13B 6-port engines, in stock form with the factory fuel injection, produces similar power gains with either our Header/Presilencer combo or our RX-7 Down Pipe/Presilencer combination. If you have no intentions of installing our Holley intake System (or any other aftermarket carb set-up), we recommend the use of the down pipe/Presilencer combo since it offers a slightly quieter exhaust note, is easier to install and less costly. If you are intending to upgrade the intake or fuel injection system, the Header/Presilencer combo offers the greatest performance potential.

    The Down Pipe/Presilencer combination incorporates a 2.5-inch O.D. Down Pipe and our perforated stainless steel core and stainless steel wool-packed Presilencer to boost power approximately 13% - an 18 horsepower increase on a 1987 RX 7- and maintain a comfortable exhaust noise level during full power driving.

    The replacement front pipe connects to the factory exhaust manifold, and the presilencer connects to the factory Y-pipe, replacing all catalytic converters and intermediate tubing. It is not possible to use just the down pipe to replace only the catalytic converters. The use of the presilencer is required to complete the connection to the y-pipe. Although a short length of tubing can be substituted in place of the presilencer, we do not offer (or suggest) this due the unacceptable increase in exhaust noise.

    The RX-7 presilencer is equipped with an exhaust back-pressure tube for correct operation of the 6-port actuators. Installation of this requires the removal of the air control and check valve and the air pump. This kit includes all necessary mounting hardware, air control & check valve cover plate, and gaskets (1 Back Pressure Pick-up and 3 Replacement Pipe-to-Presilencer gaskets). If the exhaust manifold outlet or Y-pipe gaskets are needed, refer to the "Exhaust Gaskets" section of the site for suitable replacements. We also offer the Down Pipe separately for those building custom exhaust systems.

    We offer a Disassembled Road Race Header Kit for customized exhausts or special chassis clearance requirements. Both the 12A and 13B engine kits include: an engine-to-header flange, primary tube #1 and primary tube #2, a U-bend tube section, and an dual-tube outlet flange.

    Flanges are laser-cut mild steel, and the tubing is mandrel bent .120"-wall HREW steel. The addition of the U-bend tube allows for even more flexibility with your design. Gaskets are not provided but are available separately.

    The REV TII 3-inch OD stainless steel RX-7 down pipe is a direct replacement for the down pipe in the Racing Beat REV TII Complete RX-7 Exhaust System. This down pipe is intended as a bolt-on component ONLY if used with the Racing Beat REV TII Complete Exhaust System components.

    Produced using stainless steel 3-inch OD tubing and flanges, this RX-7 down pipe can also be used for as the lead component in a custom exhaust application. An oxygen sensor fitting is supplied with the downpipe. Gaskets are not supplied but can be purchased separately, refer to Turbo Outlet Gasket (1 required), and 3-inch OD Exhaust Gasket (1 required).

    Racing Beat's Road Race Header is the first step in building a serious racing exhaust system. The engine-to-pipe flange is laser cut from 7/16" thick flat steel. Like all of the headers we manufacture, the Road Racing Header is constructed with 2" OD mild steel tubing, .125" wall thickness, and mandrel-bent tubing throughout.

    Outlet flange gaskets, bolts, and nuts are included. An engine-to-header gasket is not included, but is available separately. An Air Control and Check Valve Cover Plate (1979-80 or 1981-92) is required when using this header with a stock intake system. The Road Race Header can also be used as the basis for a custom streetable exhaust system in any car from 1971-92 which allows simple swapping between street and race exhaust systems.

    These headers can used as a bolt-on component with the Street Port Center Section Pipe (1979-85 12A & 13B - except GSL-SE) or (1984-85 GSL-SE) that we offer for these model years.

    The Racing Beat RX-8 Header for the Renesis engine is constructed using 100% stainless steel for superior quality, performance and appearance. Our exclusive cast stainless-steel mounting flange has been designed to allow the smooth transition of the exhaust gas flow from the engine to the primary tubing. Incorporated into the flange design are critical emission control air passages that were included on the OEM flange design. These small passages allow air to be pumped into the exhaust ports to aid in more efficient catalytic converter function. While this header is not considered "emissions legal" for street use, our header does not remove any catalytic converters, and is equipped with an oxygen sensor fitting and retains all emissions control functionality.

    Racing Beat offers a full 304-stainless steel catalytic converter replacement pipe for RX-8 racing applications. The weight of this pipe is 10 lbs.

    This mandrel-bent 3" OD racing pipe is a direct bolt-on replacement for the stock catalytic converter section.

    This pipe utilizes a genuine OEM rear mounting flange for a secure fit to the stock (or an aftermarket) exhaust system. The race pipe is equipped with a sensor fitting for the oxygen sensor. (Note: Placement of the sensor in the pipe will cause the "check engine" light to be illuminated, but performance and engine systems will not be affected.) Removal of the OE catalytic converter/presilencer section will result in a noticeably louder exhaust tone.

    The Racing Beat Streetable RX-7 Header with Heat Exchanger Flange Outlet is intended only for use on the 1979-1980 RX-7. It is available in both 12A and 13B versions to accommodate those who install the 13B engine in the 12A equipped RX-7 chassis.

    While replacing the stock Heat Exchanger does not offer any significant horsepower increase, we recommend replacing the Heat Exchanger with our Mini Power Pulse Presilencer to reduce exhaust noise. Engine-to-pipe and heat exchanger gaskets are not included, but are available separately or as part of a complete exhaust system.
