Racing Beat offers several versions of our Power Pulse Presilencers for use in the design and manufacture of a custom exhaust system for your street or race vehicle. Well-suited for the demands of either non-turbo or turbo applications, this oval-shaped 2.5-inch ID presilencer can be adapted to fit into tight spaces under your car. Manufactured using 304 stainless steel inside and out, this presilencer unit offers sound reducing performance at a very reasonable price!

The size of this presilencer is: 7.25" Wide x 4.875" High x 15.75" Long.

The Racing Beat Power Pulse Presilencer for the 1986-88 RX-7 Non-turbo (w/manual transmission) is designed to be used with our wide selection of RX-7 headers to complete a bolt-on configuration to the Y-pipe section.

This same Power Pulse Presilencer is included as a sub-component with the Catalytic Converter Replacement Pipe/Presilencer assemblies we offer for all 1986-88 RX-7s. Furthermore, these Power Pulse Presilencers are ideal for those individuals wanting to fabricate custom exhaust systems incorporating either long or short primaries.

The Racing Beat Power Pulse Presilencer improves the character of the exhaust noise, dramatically reducing the inherent, obnoxious metallic high frequency noise with virtually no power loss. Constructed using a stainless-steel shell, interior core tube, and high temperature stainless packing wool, the Power Pulse Presilencer measures 20-inches in length with a 4-inch outside diameter. Each end is fitted with 12mm studs. The attachment hanger shown will allow correct fitment onto the exact application listed.

The 1986-92 RX-7 Power Pulse Presilencers are manufactured with a large diameter 2.5-inch I.D. core pipe for improved exhaust gas flow. Additionally, the Power Pulse Presilencers we offer for use with non-turbo 1986-88 6-port engines feature an exhaust gas backpressure sensing tube necessary for proper operation of the 6-port intake actuator valves.

If you are using two Power Pulse Presilencers in conjunction with our Road Racing Header for a long primary system on a 1986-88 13B 6-port engine we recommend using one (1) of our 1984-85 GSL-SE Presilencers equipped with the back pressure sensing tube, and one (1) of our GSL-SE Presilencers standard presilencers used on 4-port engines. With this configuration you will have one presilencer with the backpressure pickup tube, and one presilencer without the tube, which would be suitable for building a long primary center section.

Gaskets are not included but are available separately. Two required.

The Racing Beat Power Pulse Presilencer for the 1984-85 RX-7 GSL-SE (13B 6-Port engine) is designed to be used with our wide selection of Rx7 Streetable Headers to complete a bolt-on configuration. When used along with a Racing Beat header, this presilencer will connect the header to the connecting pipe section, offering a true bolt-on configuration. These Power Pulse Presilencers are also ideal for those individuals wanting to fabricate custom exhaust systems incorporating either long or short primary exhaust systems. This presilencer unit is equipped with an exhaust gas back-pressure pickup tube to allow for the correct operation of the 6-Port intake actuator valves.

The Power Pulse Presilencer improves the character of the exhaust noise, dramatically reducing the inherent, obnoxious metallic high frequency noise with virtually no power loss. Constructed with a high temperature, 2-inch I.D. perforated core of 304 stainless steel wrapped with high-temperature stainless steel wool, the Power Pulse Presilencer measures 20 inches in length with a 4-inch outside diameter. The mounting hanger (if provided) has been designed to mount this presilencer to the specific application listed above. The mounting studs are 10mm both front and rear.

Down Pipe with Presilencer - 1986-88 RX-7 Coupe Non-Turbo (w/Manual Transmission) - The 1986-91 13B 6-port engines, in stock form with the factory fuel injection, produces similar power gains with either our Header/Presilencer combo or our RX-7 Down Pipe/Presilencer combination. If you have no intentions of installing our Holley intake System (or any other aftermarket carb set-up), we recommend the use of the down pipe/Presilencer combo since it offers a slightly quieter exhaust note, is easier to install and less costly. If you are intending to upgrade the intake or fuel injection system, the Header/Presilencer combo offers the greatest performance potential.

The Down Pipe/Presilencer combination incorporates a 2.5-inch O.D. Down Pipe and our perforated stainless steel core and stainless steel wool-packed Presilencer to boost power approximately 13% - an 18 horsepower increase on a 1987 RX 7- and maintain a comfortable exhaust noise level during full power driving.

The replacement front pipe connects to the factory exhaust manifold, and the presilencer connects to the factory Y-pipe, replacing all catalytic converters and intermediate tubing. It is not possible to use just the down pipe to replace only the catalytic converters. The use of the presilencer is required to complete the connection to the y-pipe. Although a short length of tubing can be substituted in place of the presilencer, we do not offer (or suggest) this due the unacceptable increase in exhaust noise.

The RX-7 presilencer is equipped with an exhaust back-pressure tube for correct operation of the 6-port actuators. Installation of this requires the removal of the air control and check valve and the air pump. This kit includes all necessary mounting hardware, air control & check valve cover plate, and gaskets (1 Back Pressure Pick-up and 3 Replacement Pipe-to-Presilencer gaskets). If the exhaust manifold outlet or Y-pipe gaskets are needed, refer to the "Exhaust Gaskets" section of the site for suitable replacements. We also offer the Down Pipe separately for those building custom exhaust systems.
